+ Workbench


CFturbo can be fully integrated into the ANSYS Workbench with bidirectional parameter update.

1. Installing and loading the Workbench Extension

  • Download the CFturbo ANSYS Workbench Extension CFturbo.wbex
  • In the Workbench, the file CFturbo.wbex must be selected via the menu Extensions/ Install Extension.
  • The file is loaded via the Extension Manager, menu Extensions/ Manage extensions. Here the extension CFturbo must be activated by checkbox. To load the extension automatically when starting the ANSYS Workbench, "Load as Default" must be selected in the context menu of the CFturbo extension.

As a result, CFturbo is available as a separate subsystem in the toolbox of the Workbench.

 

2. Using the Workbench extension

  • CFturbo is available as a separate subsystem in the Toolbox (left) of the Workbench.
  • A CFturbo system with setup component can be integrated into the project schematic by double-clicking or by drag & drop.
  • CFturbo can be opened interactively by double-clicking or using the context menu Edit....

  • Within CFturbo, the parameter and export configuration can be handled via PROJECT/ ANSYS Workbench.

  • The CFturbo system is extended by one entry for each exported component. The exported CFturbo component and the corresponding ANSYS application are displayed.
  • The parameters activated in CFturbo are registered in the ANSYS Workbench in the parameter set. Parameters can be changed bidirectionally both here and in CFturbo. 

  • The CFturbo exports are updated via the context menu item Update of the Setup component.
  • A list of the files generated by CFturbo can be displayed in the Workbench via the View/ Files menu.
  • The log file generated by CFturbo can be displayed in the Workbench via the Extensions/ View Log File menu.
  • The geometries generated by CFturbo can be passed on to corresponding ANSYS Workbench applications.

  • NOTE:
    The workflow setup currently only works via drag & drop, but not via the context menu Transfer Data To New. This is a general, known Workbench Problem.

  • Name recognition in SpaceClaim
    SpaceClaim does not automatically recognize the names contained in the STEP file created by CFturbo. To solve this problem, CFturbo creates a Python script in the same directory as the STEP files.
    This script must be executed after opening SpaceClaim. Details can be found in the CFturbo manual.

 

3. Current restriction of use

Typically, the extension is used at a time when the general structure of the CFturbo project and the exports are fixed. Accordingly, the CFturbo Workbench container is not yet automatically updated with the linked CFturbo project.

For the user, this means that the subsequent deletion of components or export actions in CFturbo is not reflected in the Workbench.

 

4. Uninstalling the Workbench extension

  • The uninstallation is done via the Extension Manager, menu Extensions/ Manage extensions.
  • To uninstall the extension, it must not have been loaded when the Workbench was started. Therefore, you must first deactivate the extension and restart the Workbench.
  • The extension can then be uninstalled using the context menu.
